Darcey a week at a time; the family life of a FIFO workerI recently completed a short stint working away from home in the north of Western Australia. Working life for many in Australia is one of FIFO; that’s fly in, fly out from mine sites, oil and gas platforms or construction projects across Australia. Most FIFO workers work rosters which mean they spend three to four weeks away at work, returning home for a week, before flying away again for three to four weeks. Having spent a short time doing this it struck me when I got home that spending one week in three at home came with a number of challenges. One of these is readjusting to home life where the family has got (very) used to you not being around. On a recent trip back to Perth I decided to take one photograph each day of Darcey, just being…well Darcey. Here is the first photograph taken on day one; Wednesday. Six more will follow over the coming week.
Darcey hopes you enjoy them. Darcey xxxx
Inspired by the work of Alan Moyle (Saffron365) who challenged me during a seminar to always have a personal project on the go.
